BOWA Construction provided CMAR services for WMATA’s new 230,000 SF headquarters located near the L’Enfant Plaza Metro Station. The redevelopment will be the first step in consolidating the transit authority’s 10 buildings across D.C., Maryland and Virginia. The new headquarters site was stripped to its structural concrete and completely renovated to modern workplace standards including new commercial amenities on the ground floor to activate the streetscape and benefit the surrounding community. In addition, the building was “re-skinned” in order to improve its exterior appearance including the addition of three floors. This project achieved LEED® Gold certification.
